iFactor's Storm Center in production at ConEd

ConEdison released a new outage communications platform based on iFactor's Storm Center product. This provides real time information on planned and unplanned outages for ConEd customers, the media, government agencies, and ConEd employees. The system can be seen online in ConEd's "Storm Central" at
http://www.coned.com/sm/.At the overview level, the map is shaded according to the number of outages within each of the major areas served (five boroughs and Westchester). When the user zooms in to see more detail about an area, individual outage locations are displayed allowing users to view outage activity within specific areas. Information for individual outages is displayed down to city level and includes the number of customers affected, an estimated time that power will be restored, and the cause of the outage. To protect customer privacy and security, Storm Center limits the amount of street-level detail that is available. A tabular display is also available which lists the number of customers affected and the estimated restoration time for each area served. Outage information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
