Storm Center, a Microsoft Virtual Earth-based solution, has been deployed at Nebraska Public Power District for both internal and external users. Storm Center provides real-time reports on power outages (including both planned maintenance outages and unplanned outages caused by storms, traffic accidents or equipment failure). It is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Outage information is displayed in detail allowing customers, the media, and government officials to access this data, including information such as the number of customers affected, the time the outage occurred and an estimated time power will be restored.
Additional functionality and details are provided for internal use by authorized employees on the NPPD network. This includes information on crew status, automatic notification of outage activities based on user-defined criteria, and the ability for customer service representatives to specificy the location of trouble calls using Microsoft Virtual Earth.
The implementation was built on iFactor's Storm Center, Notifi, and iCall products.
